ImagePad – Offline Image Board for Windows

Overview

ImagePad is a lightweight desktop app for collecting and arranging reference images. It runs completely offline, with no account, no cloud and no internet needed, and it is free for everyone.

Key Features

- Paste images with Ctrl+V, or drag and drop files straight onto the board

- Move images and resize them from the corners, keeping the aspect ratio (hold Shift for free resize)

- Smooth zoom and pan: mouse wheel, middle mouse, Fit All, 100% and Zoom to Selection

- Multiple project tabs that you can rename, reorder and switch with Ctrl+Tab

- Full undo/redo, copy, duplicate, delete, bring to front / send to back, and arrow-key nudging

- System, Light and Dark themes, and the app remembers your choice

- Native Open, Save and Save As using a custom .imagepad file format

Technical Highlights

- Frontend built with Angular 21 (standalone components, TypeScript)

- Desktop shell made with Tauri 2 and Rust, so the app is small and fast compared to Electron

- A custom .imagepad project format that stores images inside the file as raw bytes, not base64, which keeps files compact and quick to load

- Native file dialogs through Tauri plugins

- Windows installer (ImagePad-Setup.exe) built by an automated release script

My Role

I designed and built the whole product: UI/UX, the canvas and interaction engine, the file format, the native integration, and the release packaging.

A fast, private and distraction-free tool for designers, developers and students who need a quick visual board without depending on online services.
